Lil Patch of crafty friends Design Inspiration

It is the start of a new challenge over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends challenge blog. We have some wonderful sponsors this time too. I have used Mermaid  from Concetta Kilmer.

Concetta is kindly sponsoring us with a prize of
3 digis for a winner

I was glad that i could colour up this image of a mermaid holding a little dragon. Something different :) I used polychromos to colour the image. The sentiment is a stamp from whimsy. I have use patterned paper from my stash (always good using up the scraps) and i have left the inside of the card blank.
The challenges over at Lil patch of Crafty Friends are always anything goes so you have no excuse not to join in, especially with all the great prizes to be won. Hope to see your fab creation on the blog

I managed to get another Christmas card made in time to post out to some family members.
This time i have used a non Christmas stamp but still looks great. this is Jena blue bird from Make it Crafty.

I have coloured the image using copics. I think I am getting the hang of the markers. I still need a few more colours but I need a few more $$'s until I can fix that, lol
The leaf dies are from Kaisercraft and the flowers are from my stash and from I love roses.

Harbour Bridge

A new digital stamp has been released from The East Wind today. It is called 'Harbour Bridge'
I have coloured her with Polychromos as per usual and i thought i would add a couple of progress pics of her hair showing which pencils i have used.
First pic shows adding the first dark colour mapping out the shadows.
second pic i go over the darkest colour with my second darkest colour bringing it out a little further.

Third pic shows the next lighter colour again bringing out the colour further along the hair into the light cast. I went back over my darker colour again also to get a bit more depth.

Last pic here shows how i add Indigo to really make the strands of hair and shadows pop.

This pic below shows how i map out the skin shading.

Here she is all finished with polychromos.

and last of all the finished image using Inktense for the sky and the image mounted onto a card :)
If you have ever seen the Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks show on New Years you would understand the waterfall of fireworks pouring off the bridge. it is my favourite part of the show and so I had to add it here.

Hopefully that bunch of photos give you some idea how i go about colouring and may even help you.
Don't forget to drop on over to The East Wind facebook page and join in the 1000 followers celebration. Lots of fun and games with some great prizes to be won too. Hope to see you there :)

Dear Santa

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas....dare I say. Especially with this new release digital stamp from The East Wind
Here is my Instagram sneak peek

And here is my reveal. Isn't she darling?
As you can see below I have made an explosion card and adhered my coloured image to the lid. i figured she looks as though she was dreaming and going with the title I thought... . . .
why not pop a 3D santa in the middle :)

I coloured the stamp with polychromos pencils and inktense pencil for the red edge. I glued it to the lid of the explosion card and then gold heat embossed the edge. I decorated the card with some kaisercraft christmas papers i had lying around and a little green whimsy farm twine. i also used a tim holtz alteration die to die cut out some snowflakes. i stuck those onto the side tabs on the inside of the card(they are a little hard to see though in the pics).
It will be a sweet little gift to give to someone at Christmas don't you think?

The East Wind also has a challenge blog. The link is on the right hand side of my blog. Just click on it and you will be taken to it.

DT inspiration for Lil patch of crafty friends

It is the start of a new challenge over on the Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends challenge blog.
I have some inspiration for you using one of our wonderful sponsor for the challenge, Ching Chou Kuik.
She has kindly donated a prize of 3 of her fabulous images to a winner.
I have used her image Snowflake angel for my christmas card creation.
Here you can see my card closed

and here is the card opened and on display.

I used polychromos pencils to colour in the image and mounted it on kaisercraft, frost, cardstock. The patterned paper is 'baubles' from the kaisercraft Silver Bells collection. I love the paper as it is covered in silver tinsel and blue and pink baubles.
The snowflakes are a tim holtz alterations die.
The 'Merry Christmas' sentiment is a clear polymer stamp from kaisercraft also. It was a Christmas stamp set from last year.
The card design is called an easel card. It is an easy card fold to make and quite effective too.
So I hope you have gained a bit of inspiration from my creation. Please join in the anything goes challenge on the Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends blog. Pop on over and have a look at all the other DT makes. They won't disappoint you :)
Thanks

I have coloured the stamp with polychromos and added a little clear kindyglitz to the stars to make them sparkle.
All papers and cardstock are from kaisercraft and the flowers are from I am roses.
The die is also from kaisercraft.

The East Wind DT inspiration "Wings'

Today is new release day over at The East Wind for this beautiful angel digital stamp called 'Wings'.
She is a perfect image for sympathy cards.
I coloured it all in polychromos pencils and decided to cut some of her feathers a little to slip another feather, which i cut from a second print out of the same image, underneath. It made a nice 3D effect.
I embellished the bottom of the card with some whimsy farm twine.
The quote is computer generated.

The stamp is for sale via the East Wind etsy page and don't forget The East Wind challenge blog always has great challenges going.

Lucy Loo Mermaid II

I am a day late at blogging about this beauty. This is The East Winds latest release  called Lucy Loo ' Mermaid II'
A totally unique mermaid she is.
I have coloured her up with copics after printing her out with the no lines version. I love how the no lines gives a more realistic look.
That is a pearl shell in her hair at the front. My hubby was wondering what it was :p
I used kaisercraft cardstock to make the card and some blue hessian i had tucked away in amongst my ribbons and twine.
Anyways thanks for dropping by

It is new release day over at The East Wind Etsy store.
Unky has drawn up Aurora 'Hibiscus'. It even includes a sloth in her hair munching away on it's favourite snack.
Here is my first Instagram sneak peek
Here is my second Instagram sneak peek

And here is the big reveal!
This is the fourth time I have coloured with copics and it took me 4 hours to do. I went to bed right on the stroke of midnight.

I will have to get some more practice in so I can colour with them quicker. pencils are so much easier for me.
I did make a note of some of the colours I used.
Hair - E23, E25, E29
Yellow flower - Y08. Y17, Y38
Pink flower - R00, RV11, BV20
I used some pencil to add her eyelashes and some shading in the sleeves.
So now it's your turn head on over to the etsy store and snap her up and colour her in. Don't forget to drop by The East wind blog or facebook page to see how all the other DT's coloured her up.

'Day of The Dead' DT Inspiration

New release day at The East Wind. This is 'Day of the Dead'. You can grab the new digital stamp here >> Day of The Dead
I printed the digi out roughly 5" x 7" as I wanted to fit her in a frame. i added a spiderweb in the background for a bit of spooky effect. The stamp is coloured with polychromos and took me quite a while especially the hair. I so love how it turned out though.

She would be a perfect image for halloween don't ya rekon?
Don't forget the East wind has challenges going on that you can enter. the Facebook challenge which is running from Sept 21- Oct 17 is Lovin' the Animals. So an East Wind image with an animal in it. So many to choose from with that theme.

DT inspiration for Challenge #18 at Lil' patch of crafty friends

and yet again we have some fabulous sponsors to give an huge shout out to.
The sponsor I am working with is That Craft Place
who have generously donated 3 images to a lucky winner.

I have coloured up their image Mixie. She was too cute not too right? I used Polychromos pencils and a little bit of inktense watercolour pencils for the yellow wand glow in the background.
I added some kindyglitz glitter glue to the cut out stars because well she is a fairy and something has to sparkle :)
The card fold I have used I call the butterfly fold. It is super simple and i love how snazzy it looks. You simply fold a normal card then fold the front of the card half -way back on itself. Mount your image on the front and match it up with the sentiment area on the inside so when the card is closed the front image covers the sentiment..magic!

Don't forget to head on over to Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends and join in on the challenge. it is anything goes so you can can create anything :)

Apple seed

Ugggh I have the flu or something so I am a tad late with this blog post.
yesterday was release day of the following amazing digital stamp by Unky from The East Wind. It is called 'Apple Seed' and you can purchase the image here.
Here is my first sneak peek I shared around and on Instagram...
here is the second sneak peek I shared on Instagram

Here is the reveal!!

I loved this image as soon as I saw it and had to put my hand up to colour it. I am so into colouring images to full effect and this was a great one to use. I decided to colour her as if she was a witch in a mirror holding out an apple with a spell on it. Care for a bite?
The frame was cut with a cameo and I heat embossed it with silver/metallic embossing powder.
I used Polychromos pencils to colour her and from memory the following pencils were used.
Apple
-dark red
-cadmium red
-deep red
-scarlet red
-dark indigo
Skin
Light yellow ochre
-nougat
-dark naples ochre
-ivory
-dark sepia

Cape and background
-Dark indigo
-warm grey
-black
-nougat

So that is that :) I love her!
Don't forget the East Wind has a closed facebook page which has a challenge 'all about the hair' running until the 17th of September so be sure to colour up one of the awesome images and go all out on the hair!
The East Wind also has a challenge blog and has a challenge which is just about to finish (don't worry a new challenge will be on it's way if you don't make it in time) where you need to add corrugated cardboard to your creation. You can find the blog here.

Thanks for dropping by.

My own

Hello (waving) I have something rather special to share today. it is an image i drew and coloured all by myself. No digital or rubber stamp. Just plain old greylead pencil and an eraser then got to work with colouring pencils.
She starts off a bit plain and ordinary but I can imagine how she is going to turn out once i get my pencils to work so I have tried not to add too much detail

I have water coloured in a background of cloud/sky with inktense pencils as well as a base colour for her hair which i have then started here colouring with polychromos.

She is getting skin!! I have made a nose from cinnamon and light flesh

Here I have coloured her eyes but as you can see the eye on the left is a bit well lets say droopy...bring in the eraser!

Tada! all fixed..well as good as i could get :)

And here she is all trimmed and framed. She is 5" x 7" and turned out pretty much as I had imagined :)
This drawing is going to a school in Laverton, Victoria for a fundraising auction. if you happen to be in the are the auction is being held on the 11th of september. All the details can be found via this>> link

Enchanted Forest

Another new digital stamp release from The East WInd today. This is my instagram sneak peek
and to follow are some colouring progress pictures as I go along.
i have used Faber Castell Polychromos pencils to colour this image. However i did use Inktense watercolour pencil to colour the edge of the background.

I coloured her hair with
-black
-raw umber
-brown ochre
-naples yellow and
-light cadmium yellow
I usually start with the lighter colour to feel out the shaded areas then go over the shade with darker colours blending as i go and fill in any gaps where needed with the lightest colour.

Next i decided to colour the main tree showing.
I used
-cadmium lemon yellow as my base colour all over
-light green was next but I was sure not to go too close to the edge
-pine green finished off the darker areas
i then went over the whole tree with a pencil stump just to give a smooth look.

That hat was next to get coloured and I used
-dark indigo for the darkest edges of the hat
-I think it was helioblue-reddish was used
-prussian blue was also used as the main blue colour
-black was to darken the edges

I had to finish the hat and i used
-deep scarlet red for the base making sure to leave white areas to depict light cast
-middle cadmium red was next to darken the shade
-dark red finished off the shading.
i again used a pencil stump to give a smooth finish.

Here is 'Enchanted Forest' all coloured up and put onto a card.
you can get this awesome digital stamp from The East Wind etsy store >>here

This is one of many of Unky's September releases that you certainly won't be disappointed in colouring. She really has outdone herself this month with fantastic images...just wait!
