'Day of The Dead' DT Inspiration

New release day at The East Wind. This is 'Day of the Dead'. You can grab the new digital stamp here >> Day of The Dead
I printed the digi out roughly 5" x 7" as I wanted to fit her in a frame. i added a spiderweb in the background for a bit of spooky effect. The stamp is coloured with polychromos and took me quite a while especially the hair. I so love how it turned out though.

She would be a perfect image for halloween don't ya rekon?
Don't forget the East wind has challenges going on that you can enter. the Facebook challenge which is running from Sept 21- Oct 17 is Lovin' the Animals. So an East Wind image with an animal in it. So many to choose from with that theme.
The East Wind challenge blog has a challenge still going - For the little one. So anything made for a child or featuring a child.
The East Wind has soooo many great images. Would love to see what you make with them.

I will be entering this creation into the following challenges

DT inspiration for Challenge #18 at Lil' patch of crafty friends

and yet again we have some fabulous sponsors to give an huge shout out to.
The sponsor I am working with is That Craft Place
who have generously donated 3 images to a lucky winner.

I have coloured up their image Mixie. She was too cute not too right? I used Polychromos pencils and a little bit of inktense watercolour pencils for the yellow wand glow in the background.
I added some kindyglitz glitter glue to the cut out stars because well she is a fairy and something has to sparkle :)
The card fold I have used I call the butterfly fold. It is super simple and i love how snazzy it looks. You simply fold a normal card then fold the front of the card half -way back on itself. Mount your image on the front and match it up with the sentiment area on the inside so when the card is closed the front image covers the sentiment..magic!

Don't forget to head on over to Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends and join in on the challenge. it is anything goes so you can can create anything :)

Apple seed

Ugggh I have the flu or something so I am a tad late with this blog post.
yesterday was release day of the following amazing digital stamp by Unky from The East Wind. It is called 'Apple Seed' and you can purchase the image here.
Here is my first sneak peek I shared around and on Instagram...
here is the second sneak peek I shared on Instagram

Here is the reveal!!

I loved this image as soon as I saw it and had to put my hand up to colour it. I am so into colouring images to full effect and this was a great one to use. I decided to colour her as if she was a witch in a mirror holding out an apple with a spell on it. Care for a bite?
The frame was cut with a cameo and I heat embossed it with silver/metallic embossing powder.
I used Polychromos pencils to colour her and from memory the following pencils were used.
Apple
-dark red
-cadmium red
-deep red
-scarlet red
-dark indigo
Skin
Light yellow ochre
-nougat
-dark naples ochre
-ivory
-dark sepia

Cape and background
-Dark indigo
-warm grey
-black
-nougat

So that is that :) I love her!
Don't forget the East Wind has a closed facebook page which has a challenge 'all about the hair' running until the 17th of September so be sure to colour up one of the awesome images and go all out on the hair!
The East Wind also has a challenge blog and has a challenge which is just about to finish (don't worry a new challenge will be on it's way if you don't make it in time) where you need to add corrugated cardboard to your creation. You can find the blog here.

Thanks for dropping by.
You can find me on Instagram @ericabruton and don't forget to hashtag your fab east wind colouring so I can check them out :)

My own

Hello (waving) I have something rather special to share today. it is an image i drew and coloured all by myself. No digital or rubber stamp. Just plain old greylead pencil and an eraser then got to work with colouring pencils.
She starts off a bit plain and ordinary but I can imagine how she is going to turn out once i get my pencils to work so I have tried not to add too much detail

I have water coloured in a background of cloud/sky with inktense pencils as well as a base colour for her hair which i have then started here colouring with polychromos.

She is getting skin!! I have made a nose from cinnamon and light flesh

Here I have coloured her eyes but as you can see the eye on the left is a bit well lets say droopy...bring in the eraser!

Tada! all fixed..well as good as i could get :)

And here she is all trimmed and framed. She is 5" x 7" and turned out pretty much as I had imagined :)
This drawing is going to a school in Laverton, Victoria for a fundraising auction. if you happen to be in the are the auction is being held on the 11th of september. All the details can be found via this>> link

Enchanted Forest

Another new digital stamp release from The East WInd today. This is my instagram sneak peek
and to follow are some colouring progress pictures as I go along.
i have used Faber Castell Polychromos pencils to colour this image. However i did use Inktense watercolour pencil to colour the edge of the background.

I coloured her hair with
-black
-raw umber
-brown ochre
-naples yellow and
-light cadmium yellow
I usually start with the lighter colour to feel out the shaded areas then go over the shade with darker colours blending as i go and fill in any gaps where needed with the lightest colour.

Next i decided to colour the main tree showing.
I used
-cadmium lemon yellow as my base colour all over
-light green was next but I was sure not to go too close to the edge
-pine green finished off the darker areas
i then went over the whole tree with a pencil stump just to give a smooth look.

That hat was next to get coloured and I used
-dark indigo for the darkest edges of the hat
-I think it was helioblue-reddish was used
-prussian blue was also used as the main blue colour
-black was to darken the edges

I had to finish the hat and i used
-deep scarlet red for the base making sure to leave white areas to depict light cast
-middle cadmium red was next to darken the shade
-dark red finished off the shading.
i again used a pencil stump to give a smooth finish.

Here is 'Enchanted Forest' all coloured up and put onto a card.
you can get this awesome digital stamp from The East Wind etsy store >>here

This is one of many of Unky's September releases that you certainly won't be disappointed in colouring. She really has outdone herself this month with fantastic images...just wait!
